Hostel
Our Lady of Consolation Hostel is a 173 bed low care facility at Rooty Hill, spread across three (3) separate buildings. 134 beds are General Hostel places and 39 beds are Dementia Specific. The General Hostel places are located in two (2) separate buildings, known as St Helens’ and Alverna. The Dementia Specific places are known as Assunta, and are located in the adjacent nursing home building as a separate, secure unit with its own secure garden. All residents are accommodated in single rooms with en-suites.
The environments provided in each of the three (3) hostel buildings are contemporary and spacious, including lounge areas, dining rooms, prayer rooms and courtyards. Hostel residents also have access to the on-site recreation hall and the on-site chapel (catering for up to 400 people) as well as the resident outings program facilitated via our bus fleet which includes a wheelchair accessible vehicle. The hostel buildings are also located in landscaped surrounds consisting of garden areas for the enjoyment of residents and their visitors.
Admission requires assessment via an Aged Care Assessment Team and completion of an application form. Our care staff will also wish to conduct a pre-admission assessment. We also encourage all applicants and/or their families to visit the nursing home and undertake a tour before applying. Leisure and Lifestyle
Our leisure and lifestyle programs are facilitated by a team of Recreational Activities Officers (RAOs) and a Bus Driver/Outings Co-ordinator. Residents are involved in a wide-variety of group activities as well as one-to-one activities, developed around the interests and needs of individual residents. There is also a regular newsletter incorporating a social calendar and a comprehensive outings program facilitated via our bus fleet, which includes a wheelchair accessible bus.
