Food Services
Our food services are delivered from a modern, fully equipped kitchen completed in 2006. Our kitchen operates on a ‘fresh cook’ system with the capacity to extend menu choices by using of ‘sous vide’ cooking techniques. The standard four (4) - week rotating menu consists of two (2) hot choices at breakfast, plus cereals or fruit, three (3) hot choices at lunch, and choice at dinner time of a hot meal, salad or sandwiches in addition to soup. Desserts are offered at both lunch and dinner. The further introduction of ‘sous vide’ cooking techniques will be used to extend menu choices even further.
Our food services also include the following:
- individual assessment of likes and dislikes;
- quick responses to residents’ feedback;
- our menu reflects meals from different cultures - we asked residents to contribute their own recipes, and some of the resident contributions have become particular favourites;
- we consult with residents/representatives regularly about the menu;
- we have introduced a 'special meal' concept where residents have the opportunity to order a special meal of ‘anything they like’ which is not usually on the menu. Many residents order T-bone steaks or lobsters. Our staff will then do whatever it takes to cook them the meal they select. Residents are also able to invite a guest to share this meal with a glass of wine;
- we offer a variety of ‘gourmet picnic hampers’ – which can be ordered in advance for families to come and share with their relative in our landscaped gardens;
- in the warmer months, from late 2007, we will begin to offer an ‘al-fresco’ dining experience, with a ‘restaurant style’ choice of meals
