Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs)

Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs) provide a hostel level of care to a person’s home. The aim of the service is to provide an alternative to moving to residential aged care.

The support which can be provided includes, personal care, shopping, respite, medication and nutrition monitoring, help with shopping, etc., Other assistance within the scope of the program can be provided up to the limit of funding received.

This service is available to people in the Blacktown, Holroyd, Parramatta and Baulkham Hills Local Government Area (LGAs).

CACPs are funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing. All applicants must first be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

A number of CACPs operated by OLOCACS have been set aside specifically for people with dementia. OLOCACS uses its expertise in providing services for people with dementia to design and implement a CACP service around their assessed needs.

The maximum cost to most recipients is 17.5% of the pension as set by the Commonwealth.

When a client’s care needs increase so that they can no longer be cared for at home by a CACP service, the service Co-ordinator will work with the client and/or family members if applicable to arrange for a more intensive service, which may include moving to residential aged care.
